there's this daphne figure in greek mythology, right? the one who apollo fell in love with. i was just wondering whether she is a sea nymph, a mountain nymph or a huntress. please help! thanks!

Is Daphne a sea nymph, mountain nymph or a huntress??
I think she was originally a river nymph, being a daughter of Peneus - a river god. She, however, was transformed into a dryad (nymph of trees) when she prayed to Peneus to help her escape from Apollo who was pursuing her and was infatuated at her. (His in infatuation was caused by Eros.) She then transformed into a Lauraceae tree, to which became sacred to Apollo.

In other stories, aside from being a nymph, she is also known as a huntress, being a follower of the huntress-goddess Artemis.

Whichever stories, she was always considered first as a nymph before transforming into a dryad.
Reply:Nymph means "young woman".

Daphne was Apollo's first love.

The nymph Daphne was the daughter of the river god Peneus.

Her delight was in woodland sports and the spoils of the chase.
