Is the novel Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier romantic?

Is the novel Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier romantic? I have read just read Jane Eyre and I want to know if Rebecca is just as romantic?

Is the novel Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier romantic?
It's more of a Gothic romance than a traditional romance. I would say that Rebecca is a bit darker than Jane Eyre, though there are strong elements of romance in the story. I highly recommend the book, especially if you enjoyed Jane Eyre. Have fun!
Reply:a gothic romance
Reply:Much more romantic!! (and I am a man!!)
Reply:I'm a big fan of both novels. I loved Rebecca probably just a little more, though. And yes, it's a gothic romance..the best kind. If you liked Jane Eyre, you'll love Rebecca.
Reply:Rebecca is a romantic novel but also a murder story the ending is superb and more up to date as it is set after the war ww11.
Reply:I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'll just say it is a romantic tragedy - that there may already be too much. You'll know after the first few pages anyway, and it was one of my favorites growing up, not young young, just that Daphne De Maurier has been a marvelous writer - she wrote The Birds, and I "think" she wrote "Frankenstein" - but don't quote me on that - and all you guys who know better, don't write to me and say what an idiot I am.
Reply:Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein. But yes, Rebecca is a wonderful novel, and it is a romance story, but not a typical romance. I highly recommend it!
