How do you feel about the name Daphne?

I want to see what people think of it. Trash it, praise it, go for it! We're thinking Daphne Margaret. Margaret is a family name for me, and we won't be changing it.

How do you feel about the name Daphne?
I think it's a great name! It's not on the list of names I'm hoping to use someday, but it's definitely on the list of names I admire and frequently recommend.





It has always seemed like a rather European choice to me. It reminds me of a Belgian friend I had in elementary school, and it also makes me think of Daphne Moon on the show "Frasier" (the nutty psychic physical therapist from Manchester).





I have always loved the name Margaret, and I think it makes a fabulous middle name for Daphne.
Reply:I have nothing against daphne margaret, but daphne is a name that apparently isnt "hip" any more.Like my sis's name was daphne and she got teased for her name alot. I dont get it, but ther are just some names that arent kool among the little ones.

Reply:Really, really love it. Margaret is gorgeous, Daphne is even more gorgeous. It's such an underused mythological name, I love the story and the meaning 'laurel'. The only thing turning me off from it is the potential nickname 'Daffy' but I shouldn't think many people would call her that.

Reply:I love the name Daphne. It sounds feminine and old fashion without sounding dated. There are never a lot of Daphnes around so it when you call her name only one kid, not twenty will turn around. I think it is lovely.

Daphne makes me think of an old lady for some reason.
