Do you like Daphne DuMaurier?

I had to read Rebecca when I was in the 10th grade, and because of how much I loved the book....I bought a lot of her books off of ebay after it. But yet...I've never read any of them. lol. One day I will, I just haven't done it yet.

Do you like her? What are your favorite books by her?

I have Jamaica Inn, My Cousin Rachel, The Flight of The Falcon, Don't Look Now, Rebecca, and The Glass Blowers.

Aside from Rebecca, any of those that are really really good that I should read before the others?

Do you like Daphne DuMaurier?
"Rebecca" is one of my favourite Daphne du Maurier books. I also loved "Frenchman's Creek", a romance and weepie, with one of the greatest love scenes I've ever read (it was suggested...)

"Jamaica Inn" is also a good story, a bit of a thriller; and I was intrigued by "My Cousin Rachel".

"Don't Look Now" was scary, and made into a very good film with Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland.

But one of the strangest books, dealing with time travel, is "The House on the Strand".

I've read a few more, but the above remain the most memorable. I envy you reading them for the first time!
Reply:I liked several of her earlier novels, but I didn't care for her later books..Rebecca was my favorite. I also liked The Scapegoat Jamaica Inn, Frenchman's Creek

Today, I couldn't tell you what they're about, but as a teenager, I thought they were great. I also liked Mary Stewart. I remember enjoying Nine Coaches Waiting and Moonspinners.
Reply:Rebecca was great, it's one of my favorite books!

I haven't read any others; I just got one from the library though.

I would start with Jamaica Inn, because I believe it's also, like Rebecca, a Hitchcock movie. It has to be pretty good to be made into a movie. And I also like to watch and compare movies to books. But that's just me.

Hopefully I'm not completely wrong about this =)
