Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier?

Does the new wife ever acquire any real power?

Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier?
Why not read it through and find out for yourself? Why spoil the ending by asking?

BTW, after you've read it, rent the film version with Lawrence Olivier, Vivien Leigh (I think), and Judith Anderson. There's also a BBC production with Diana Rigg (of The Avengers fame) as the housekeeper (I'm blanking on her name). I haven't seen it, but if Ms. Rigg is involved, it's bound to be good!
Reply:She acquires power over her servants after finding courage in herself and her marriage. She gains the power to overcome the memory of Rebecca that haunts her, and also the housekeeper Mrs. Danvers.
Reply:kind of......but near the end of the book... I had 2 read this book 4 summer reading and it was good....
