Is 'Rebecca' from Daphne du Maurier the best novel in the world?

Just saw that on TV yesterday. Never read it but it was one of my mom's favourite books. She knew the very beginning by heart.

Is 'Rebecca' from Daphne du Maurier the best novel in the world?
Depends what you like really.
Reply:I think you have a lot more reading to do !
Reply:No.

In my high school Spanish class, I was told that *Don Quixote De La Mancha* sold the most copies of books after *The Bible*

I prefer Russian novels..I really liked *The Brothers Karamazov*
Reply:No. Good, though.
Reply:Probably not the best but one of the best.
Reply:Ummm, no.
Reply:I don't think you can have a single best novel. Wasn't it once said, "There is no order among the superlative". Or something like that. In other words it would be possible to have ten best friends or ten best novels.

I think they had a survey among current authors recently and they voted Cervantes' Don Quixote as No 1. Thinking about it right now for myself, Maugham's "The Moon and Sixpence". comes to mind, but tomorrow it would very likely be different.

I am sure I have 100 best novels, you would just have to keep asking the question.
