Help! I need to find the Daphne Du Maurier quote about her being affected by place more than people!?

There is a quote by her that I read in a highschool text book and now I cannot find it! It's something about how place, more than people, is what she would become attached to or affected by or loved or something, more than people. Arghgh! It's driving me crazy, I will be forever grateful (and amazed) if someone can help me find this! Thank you!!!
