Have you ever read rebecca by daphne du maurier?!?
I loved the book and I most definitely think that the narrator gives us a nice observation and interesting insights throughout the book. Here are some more reviews.

the Narrator seems to grow the more twisting the plot gets.

Reply:She develops from a naive and shy young girl, intimidated by Manderlay, the first Mrs. de Winter, Mrs. Denvers and even her own husband, to a mature, confident and more sophisticated woman.
